Advanced Program

These advanced programs were developed solely by myself, and they are very fabulous and fantastic programs.

The first program deals specifically with weight loss. It is called the Thermogenic Program, or nicknamed the Fat-Burning Program. The second program is called the Strength Enhancing Program, and the third is the Olympic Endurance Program. I’ll be discussing all three combined, as each of the programs has very similar supplements and techniques. So we’ll treat the three as a whole.

On the Advanced Programs, there are several key things that you must understand, which may be a little unusual or difficult to fathom. On these programs when weight loss is occurring, for the most part in the beginning of the program you will not see a change on the scale. Even though you are losing weight the scale may not record it. And this is a very, very important point and one that people have a very difficult time understanding and grasping, but it is the truth. I’m going to explain this very simply so that you can really get this.

Fat takes up a lot of space on the body, a lot of room. And fat relative to muscle is lighter. Muscle is much heavier and denser. One pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat. If you want to think of it this way–this is not 100% correct, but let’s use it as an analogy: A pound of fat may look like a bowling ball, while a pound of muscle may look like a grapefruit. They both weigh the same, but one is bigger than the other.

On the advanced programs for the first few weeks or even depending on how overweight you are–for the first few months your body will burn fat and will put on muscle. So you’re going to exchange fat and replace it with muscle. And that’s good; that’s very healthy, and that’s what everybody wants.

When this occurs you’re going to be losing the fat that takes up a lot of room and replacing it with muscle which takes up less room. So you will noticeably look thinner, feel thinner, your clothes will fit you differently. In fact, you may have to buy new clothes because they’re going to get baggy. However, when you go on the scale, the scale may not show a drastic drop or change in weight, because you have replaced one type of weight–the weight that took up a lot of room, caused you to look fat, caused your clothes to be a size larger than you wanted to wear, or caused your clothes to fit you tight–you’ve gotten rid of that fat and exchanged that weight–that fat weight–with muscle, which takes up much less room. This causes you now to look thinner, feel stronger, feel healthier, have your clothes be big or cause you to buy new clothes, but that exchange of weight may have been equal or close to equal. Therefore the scale is not showing any difference. And that is it in a nutshell.

On one hand, you’ve got weight that you’re losing which is fat, which is unhealthy to your heart, you circulatory system, etc. And you’ve replaced that with muscle, which is healthy, burns up calories and enables you to physically do things and is the desirable kind of weight to have on your body.

A way to look at this is if you had a man who weighed 200 pounds who had a body fat percentage of about 7% body fat, which is equivalent to professional Olympic athletes. And then you have another man who weighed 200 pounds but his body fat was like 35%, which is obese. You have obviously two people who weigh the same; however, their body composition is very different. One person has a lot of fat and the other person has very little fat. The man who has 7% body fat will have more muscle than the man who has 35% body fat. It’s obvious, because out of the total 200 pounds, it has to consist of something. So if it’s not consisting of fat, it’s most likely going to consist of muscle (under normal circumstances).

Muscle burns calories. Fat does not. The only fat that burns calories is the brown fat, which I’ll discuss later.

Muscle being able to burn calories equals energy and heat production, because that’s what happens when you burn calories. You produce energy and heat. Fat does not burn calories. It does nothing except look bad, or insulate you from the cold. Therefore, the man who has 35% body fat has less muscle and his body is burning up less calories. The man who has 7% body fat has more muscle and is burning up more calories. So, aside from the fact that the man who has 7% body fat looks much better physically, more attractive and leaner, he is also dealing with a higher rate of metabolism in his body, so he is burning up more calories and he can consume more food without gaining weight. The person with 35% body fat cannot. He will gain weight from the same food that the man who has 7% body fat does not gain weight from. So, there you have it. These are the rules of the game that we’re dealing with.

The Advanced Programs are set up to correctly, professionally and healthfully change your body from a fat storer to a fat burner. When this occurs, your body essentially is going to be raising its metabolism rate, burning fat and building muscle.

This is the correct way to handle an overweight condition.

Those of you who are looking for shortcuts–you came to the right place, because that’s what these programs are, to a large extent. But those of you who are interested in just getting superficial gains or superficial changes (something that only shows on the outside, and is not a permanent correction of WHY you are overweight) have come to the wrong place. If you’re looking for shortcuts, you’ve come to the right place, because this program is a shortcut from going through arduous dieting. However, unless you’re interested in making a permanent change in your body–in what’s wrong with your body and your body composition so that you don’t continually become overweight–if you’re not interested in that, then you’ve come to the wrong place.

If you want to get permanent results, this is the program that does it.

I will guarantee you that if you speak with people who have completed this program, they will tell you it is basically easier than any other type of program. It’s very simple. All it involves is that you swallow some pills, mix some powders in water and drink them, and that you do some type of exercise. It doesn’t have to be arduous exercise; it can be minimal. And when I say minimal I mean it can be really minimal. The exercise that you need to do on the Fat-Burning Program could easily just be 15-20 minutes a day, or 20 minutes three times a week in order to get the program to work. Of course, the more exercise you do the faster and better it will work. But you can achieve results with just 20 minutes three times a week.

On the Strength Enhancing Program, one does not need to be a professional athlete or a weight lifter or whatnot to do the program, but one must do some kind of strength-building exercises which could be calisthenics, or working out with light weights or a universal gym or soloflex or any of those kinds of apparatus, maybe 15 minutes a day. Or, on the other hand, one could do 20 minutes three times a week. The only difference in this is that the Olympic Endurance Program is designed for people who are more serious about athletic competition and their fitness level. So that program is usually done by someone who is exercising daily and has a pretty rigorous exercise schedule. The same program can be used by some people to increase their cardio vascular health, but the way the program is put together, it’s usually geared for very serious athletes.

The Fat-Burning Program is not, however, and can be done by a non-exerciser or someone who is very casual.

On these programs, as I said, your body composition will change. The scale will frustrate you if you go by the scale. My best advice to you is not to pay attention to the scale. Your best bet is to only be concerned about your body composition or your weight (and how much you’ve lost) when you come into the office to have a body composition test.

The body composition test that’s done on this program is a simple one. The morning of the test you should not consume too much coffee, you should not exercise, you should not have any alcohol within 12 hours of the test. You also should not consume large amounts of fluids, which includes caffeine, for 4-5 hours before the test.

What the test does is very simple. When you come into the office the day of the test, we will weigh you. We’re going to take that weight and feed that weight into the computer that we have, along with some other information about you. Then we’re going to hook these little sticky pads to one of your arms and one of your feet. The computer will send a small, small, small amount of electricity through your body and measure the amount of resistance that the electricity is having going your body. The computer can figure out, based on the resistance, how hard it is for that electricity to pass through your body, plus how much of your body is fat, muscle, and water. From that, the computer will tell us what your total weight on the scale means.

I’ll give you an example. If you start this program and you weight 170 pounds, and then two months later we do the test again and you weigh 170 pounds, it would appear that no weight has changed. However, what probably will occur is when you start the program, if you weigh 170 pounds, we may find that your body fat percentage is 28 or 29%. When you come in two months later and we do the test again, you might still weigh 170 pounds, but your body fat percentage might have dropped to 25 or 24%.

The scale hasn’t shown a change but the computer will tabulate how many pounds of fat you lost and how much muscle you gained. And the difference will show us the true measure.

So the computer tells us how much fat you’re losing, not the scale. Because the computer can tell us how much fat you lost and how much muscle you put on, this more fully explains to us what the weight on the scale is meaning. You’ve gotten rid of something bad, which is fat, and put on the muscle, which is good.

The types of supplements which are used on the program are very interesting. They’re highly advanced supplements. These are perfectly safe to take, and we’re going to discuss a few of them. One of the most interesting ones is a product called Thermaloss or Thermogenic Enhancer. This contains an herb called ephedra, which the Chinese have used for thousands of years. Ephedra stimulates brown fat in your body, which you have behind your neck and on your back, to burn up white fat. The brown fat cells will take the white fat and burn up the calories contained in the white fat, and convert that over to heat and energy. This is called thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is the process by which your body converts fat into heat and energy while you’re in the cold, in order to keep warm. The ephedra herb tricks your body into doing this.

Many people have lost considerable amounts of fat on their body which eventually does translate into pounds on the scale, without dieting at all–just by taking these products.

Usually after a month or two on the program, you will start to see the scale drop. If it’s a case where your body is necessarily not very fat (in terms of your weight) but you appear to look fat because you have not that much muscle on your body, throughout the entire program the scale may never change. But your entire look will.

This is possible if you appear to be within your ideal body weight, according to the typical insurance charts, but feel as though you look fat or appear fat. However, if you’re truly overweight and it’s very noticeable and you’re many pounds above what is considered your normal weight (let’s say for example, a six-foot man, if you’re weighing above 230-240 pounds, this could definitely be considered too much), then the scale will change and you will see a drop in the scale. The closer to being at a normal weight you are–I’m not saying an ideal or perfect but normal weight–the more difficult it will be to see a change on the scale. But if you’re very overweight, you will see changes on the scale later on in your program.

If on your Fat-Burning Program you’re taking only Thermogenic Enhancer or Thermaloss and not particularly anything else, you may see changes in the scale early, because that type of program will just keep burning fat and not necessarily put muscle on your body. However, some of the other healthy vitamins and minerals that you’re taking may cause you to put muscle on, so it’s still possible that you may not see a great change in the scale. But you’re more likely if you’re just on Thermaloss or Thermogenic Enhancer. That’s usually not the case at all. Most people are taking a full program which also includes a supplement called chromium picolinate, which is a mineral that has been shown to speed fat burning in the body while building up muscles.

Another very typical product used on the programs is called MCT. Its official product name is Lipogest, although several companies make this and will call it MCT. MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides. Now a triglyceride is a fat and a medium chain means a particular type of fat. A medium chain triglyceride is a fat which is normally found in nature and certain foods, and which your body doesn’t really store as fat. As a matter of fact, what it tends to do is burn up fat which is already on your body. Medium chain triglycerides are used by your body to create energy and heat, and at the same time, to cause that brown fat we talked about before to stimulate the burning of white fat. Medium chain triglycerides along with the Thermogenic Enhancer and chromium picolinate are at the core of most of the programs.

Another very interesting supplement that’s used on the programs is called Performance Plus. Performance Plus contains different vitamins and minerals which help the body build muscle. The key ingredient that it contains is called arginine. This product really should not be used by those who have Herpes, particularly, as it can activate and stimulate the Herpes virus. But other than that it’s very, very safe. Arginine is a protein which is found in a lot of foods and is perfectly natural. When taken in high doses, arginine stimulates the release of growth hormone in your body. Growth hormone is the hormone made by glands in your body when you’re growing up, which stimulates the development of bone, the growth of muscle, and the general growth of your entire body. When you hit about 21 years of age or so, your body slows down its release and production of growth hormone, and you’re not making as much anymore. By taking arginine and doing some exercise–and it doesn’t have to be tremendous exercise, but some type of strenuous exercise, it’s possible to get your body to release small amounts of growth hormone again. You’re not going to release amounts of growth hormone that are capable of turning you into an 8-foot giant if you’ve already reached your full size, but you can release enough hormone to stimulate fat burning and muscle building in the body. It really doesn’t take much growth hormone to do that. A teenager who for the most part has reached his full size and is not really going to grow that much more, still has a bit of a faster metabolism than someone who is well past 21. Teenagers or youngsters usually can eat pretty much what they want and usually not gain weight. This is due to growth hormone. Growth hormone is many times nicknamed “The Fountain of Youth” of “The Elixir of Youth” by different biochemists and researchers. And it’s because of its ability to keep your metabolism running fast and have your body burn up fat. As I said before, growth hormone released by the arginine supplement on your program is perfectly safe. There is no way your body can release massive doses of it that would cause any kind of medical problem. But to give you an example to draw on, there are many professional athletes and body builders who illegally and unsafely take steroids (which are actual synthetic versions of the natural growth hormone your body makes) which can cause medical illnesses and can actually cause cancer.

The Performance Plus and the products like that are a safe, natural alternative for these athletes and body builders to use. No one will ever tell them that they can get the same result as these powerful, dangerous drugs because that’s not true. These powerful, dangerous drugs are very high potency, and they do produce a better–if unsafe–result. However, the Performance Plus is perfectly safe and harmless to use, and produces a very good result without any of the risks or side effects.

When taking the arginine and other products on this program, it sometimes occurs that a person may get a loose stool, or notice frequent urination. Frequent urination is pretty common at the beginning of most weight loss programs, due to the fact that the metabolism is increasing which has a water releasing effect. Normally on these programs, when you begin them and you start to urinate more frequently, the body is eliminating excess fluids that were clogging and sludging up your system, and that the body was not able to release before. This is a good sign.

A loose stool or even diarrhea is a sign that the body is not able to use the products at the dose that you’re currently taking. Simply lowering the doses of all the things on your program and then slowly raising them again is the best remedy.

The Performance Plus sometimes causes a loose stool or diarrhea. If this occurs, lower the dose and then gradually raise it again.

The Lipogest MPT on the Fat-Burning Program can cause diarrhea or loose stools if your body is not fully digesting the oil. Taking NESS #18, 13, or 5 with the product will handle that, and that should be fine.

Many people ask how important diet is on these programs. I can tell you that the better you follow the diet that’s given you, the better the program will go. The diet is being used to correct your metabolism, if its too slow to speed it up, or too fast to slow it down. Keep in mind that people who have a fast metabolism gain weight just as easily as those who have a slow metabolism if they’re eating too many starches, sugar or alcohol. They’ll tend to gain the weight from the waist up. Those who have a slow metabolism will gain weight from eating too much fats and rich foods. They’ll primarily gain it on the thighs and hips or from the waist down.

These are things you really want to be aware of and watch out for, and I can tell you that while many people have done these programs without really changing their diet that much and have gotten good results, the people who have gotten the best results are those who followed the diet.

This is an important point: On this particular program, eating less is not necessarily going to get you a better result. As a matter of fact, if you eat less you may not get a good result, because your metabolism might slow down from the lack of food. What’s essential when we say “diet” on this program, is not that you eat less but that you eat the correct things. There really is no diet program that we have for anybody that involves drastically eating much less. The only time that this is true is if the person really needs to lose weight very fast due to a dangerous medical condition. But for the most part, and generally speaking, losing weight on these programs is done by eliminating the foods that are wrong for your metabolism, and replacing them with the ones that are more correct for your metabolism. That is the correct and proper way to do it. As a matter of fact, on the Fat-Burning Program, eating less sometimes slows down your progress, because your metabolism will slow down. Generally speaking, the Thermogenic or Thermaloss product works well if you cut back the amount of fat in your diet, raise the amount or protein, and you usually get a very good result. But eating less and taking that product may not give you a good result.

Some people notice that after they eat a meal and they’ve taken the Thermogenic or Thermaloss products, maybe 20-30 minutes before their meal, notice that their body temperature will rise and they’ll feel the definite effects of it more than if they didn’t eat. And that’s because the food does stimulate the product to work.

The only time that there’s a calorie restriction on this program is when we use a product called Ultra Meal or Ultra Balance Protein. Ultra Meal is a specifically designed protein supplement which is used as a meal replacement. Most meal replacements that are commercially available like Slim Fast and these things, have been found to cause muscle loss. As I explained earlier, muscle loss is very, very bad and very detrimental to your body. It’s the last thing that we want to happen. We want to be putting more muscle onto the body, in most cases, and not taking it away.

When muscle loss occurs, a slowdown in your metabolism occurs. It’s very common that people who have been chronic dieters or what used to be called the “yo-yo syndrome”–where a person’s dieting all the time, loses weight, gains it back, loses more, gains it back–these people have undergone quite a lot of muscle loss, which is part of why they have the problem.

Supermarket meal replacement drinks, in university studies, have been shown to produce a pretty profound muscle loss. One of the studies showed that as much as 50% of all the weight you lost on those programs, using the commercial supermarket meal replacement drinks, was muscle.

Ultra Meal was designed by nutritional researchers specifically to allow the person to use a meal replacement, which could lower their caloric intake, thereby allowing weight loss–without causing a muscle loss. Ultra Meal is generally used by those who have a slow metabolism. It works best for those people.

Ultra Balance protein is used on those folks who have a fast metabolism. It works in the same way as the Ultra Meal, only used for the other metabolism type.

These drinks are usually mixed with water or juice. Fruit can be added. The Ultra Balance usually will work with lecithin being added to it, which is a nutritional supplement good for those people who have a fast metabolism. The Ultra Meal can be mixed in juice and can be taken as-is, or someone can put ice cubes or chopped fruit in there to give it a better flavor and more fiber.

Ultra Balance and Ultra Meal can be used to replace two meals a day. Sometimes that’s desirable. Many times it’s not desirable to cut back that many calories. Generally speaking, we never go below 1200 or 1500 calories on any type of weight loss program. When we do that, we see that people don’t get good results, and they lose too much muscle.

The Ultra Meal is best to use at breakfast for those who are not used to eating breakfast, and the same is true of Ultra Balance protein. On these programs, eating breakfast is a very important point. It is really difficult to get good results on these programs unless you are eating breakfast. Simply speaking, when you eat breakfast in the morning–and I don’t mean a jelly roll and coffee–I mean a substantial breakfast that contains complex carbohydrates like whole grain cereals, oatmeal, the types of cereals referred to as “granola,” or the types of things you find in the health food stores–these types of whole grains which are complex carbohydrates taken with protein, or just protein itself taken in the morning, which could be in the form of eggs, any type of lean meat, chicken or fish; these proteins consumed in the morning raise your metabolism. And that is very important.

The average person who has a weight problem has not been eating breakfast in the morning. Typically we found this to be true. When you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, and you eat lunch as your first meal of the day, your metabolism slows down. Your metabolism is like a stove or a furnace that’s trying to heat a house, let’s say. If you get up in the morning and expect to have heat, you’d better stoke the fire early in the morning. If you don’t stoke the fire or put wood in the fire until one or two o’clock in the afternoon, you can’t expect to have as warm of a house in the evening as you would if you were heating the house starting from the morning. I’m sorry to tell you that your body and metabolism are basically the same way. If you don’t eat breakfast, your metabolism will slow down.

Many of you, particularly those of you who are going on either the Strength-Enhancing Program or the Fat-Burning Program, are not able to eat breakfast in the morning because your bodies cannot digest the food. You may feel as though your body rejects the food in the morning. This is not unusual if your metabolism has slowed down. But for you folks, you may want to try only consuming a grapefruit in the morning, and using that until your body is able to digest and consume other foods in the morning. Grapefruit in the morning can be very stimulating and can raise your metabolism rate.

It’s also a very good idea to consume lemon water in the morning. That would be taking a lemon, cutting it in half, and squeezing the juice of either both halves or one into a cup of fresh water (distilled or clean spring water) and drinking that in the morning. That’s something else that helps raise your metabolism rate.

An important point on some of the products is when to take them. Generally speaking, some of the products really need to be taken before meals, or on an empty stomach, or before exercise in order to be effective. Products such as Performance Plus can be taken an hour before exercise on an empty stomach. That would mean the person should not have eaten minimally one hour before taking the Performance Plus; and then waiting minimally 45 minutes to an hour to then exercise to get the best results.

Thermaloss or Thermogenic Enhancer is best taken 1/2 hour or so before meals. A product named Endurabolic which is used on all the programs, is also generally best taken on an empty stomach before exercise. Half an hour or even 15-20 minutes would be minimal.

With the exception of these three products, most of them can be taken at meal time. These three, though, really do work much better if you do take them on an empty stomach.

For those of you who have medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or gout should be aware that some of the supplements are not recommended for use by people with these conditions. You should always check the label of the product for any particular warning, and consult your nutritionist.

Even if you do have these conditions, sometimes it is safe to continue to use the product, provided your medical doctor is monitoring your blood pressure, blood sugar or your uric acid, whatever the case may be. So if you have gout, diabetes, hypertension or any other ailment you should check with your nutritionist during your consultation as to whether or not these supplements are okay for you to take. If the nutritionist feels it is worth a try, you should contact your medical doctor and have him monitor you while you’re taking these particular supplements. This is something the nutritionist will also do via the lab tests that he will recommend when you come into the office to be retested.

If you have any other questions about your Advanced Program, please contact the office and speak to your nutritionist. I really hope you enjoy the results of your program.
